Rogers, AR

Rogers, Arkansas, was incorporated on June 6th, 1881, and came to be as a stop on St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad.  The town was named after Captain Charles W. Rogers, the vice president and chairman of the railway. From the first recorded population of 1,265 in 1890 to 72,696 in 2020, the metro area has become one of the fastest-growing in the country. Rogers ranks in the top seven for 3 of the key suburb categories in Arkansas.

Rogers has been a hot spot for the retail consumer since the late 1800s. In 1884, Stroud's Mercantile was opened, and it remained the #1 retail business in Rogers until the early 1960s. In 1962, Sam Walton opened the first location of Walmart, and the rest is history. Stroud's kept the doors open for 109 years before it closed in 1993. In 2021, Walmart had its 10th consecutive year as the number one revenue-producing company worldwide, posting over 572 billion dollars in sales.

There is so much to do in Rogers to keep the ever-growing base entertained. Air Guns became popular at the end of the 19th century and were made mostly of wood by the Markham Air Rifle Company of Plymouth. The rifles were given away as a free items for farmers who purchased a Windmill. When sales of the windmills tanked, The Plymouth Iron Windmill Company nearly went out of business. When the Hamilton Company produced a metal rifle, that would change. General Manager Lewis Cass Hough proclaimed, "Boy, that's a Daisy," and the Daisy Air Gun was born and helped save the company. Today, you can visit the Daisy Gun Museum. The attraction is filled with antique artifacts and products of the Daisy Company. There is even the world's largest BB gun at 25 ft.

For a wonderful family experience, take a guided, traditional tour of the War Eagle Cavern at Beaver Lake. Enjoy amazing walking trails and millions of years-old rock formations. For the more daring, take a Lantern Tour, where you make your way like the settlers did, by oil lamp. Above ground, don't miss the Moonshiners Mystery Shack. It is said that while moonshiners created their Devil's Brew in the cavern, they waited in the shack for it to finish brewing. Balls and water roll uphill, and other odd happenings abound here. Those with a good sense of direction should try the Lost in the Woods Maze. Search for five missing Indian tribes while navigating more than a half mile of twists, turns, and dead ends.

A stop at the Rogers Local Food Market is a way to support local businesses. You can find sustainable handmade arts and crafts, artisan baked goods, and locally sourced food items. Live music keeps the day festive, as do the food tastings. Pass by the Arkansas Cooperative Extension's booth and learn what produce is best to eat at what time of year.

Unfortunately, people aren't the only residents here who enjoy the local fare, as do nuisance wildlife. If you have an issue with bobcats, coyotes, raccoons, bats, and more, or the damage they have caused, contact Natural State Wildlife Solutions. We are the top-rated wildlife removal, repair, and exclusion service in Rogers and the surrounding area.
