Little Flock

Little Flock, Arkansas

Little Flock, AR

While not as well-known as the Arkansas capital of Little Rock, the inhabitants of Little Flock hold their small town in high regard. With a population of only 2,800, the laidback residents can sleep easy at night knowing their little slice of America ranks in the top 20 most secure mid-sized metro areas. The unemployment rate here is nearly half the national average, and the cost of living is almost 4% less than in the rest of the country. Adding to the town's financial benefits, home values have risen 20.5% between 2021 and 2022. With those advantages, the rest of the country may start to flock here. It's a good thing that nearly the entire city is residential housing.

Though the small town was incorporated in 1970, with a population of around 200, Little Flock was founded in the 1840s. The area was initially claimed as a hunting ground by the Osage Indians. When the US took ownership of the area through the Louisiana Purchase, treaties were made, and homesteaders found their way here.

At the heart of the area way back then, and still there, is the Primitive Baptist Church. Founded in 1843, the residents took 15 years to construct the Church's first building. Confederate soldiers were housed there in preparation for the Battle of Pea Ridge. In 1976, the government placed a historical marker commemorating the event on the Church.

To get the adrenaline pumping, residents head over to NWA R/C Raceway. The radio-controlled car speedway has sponsored events and is also a top-of-the-line hobby shop. Whether you are starting out or have zipped around the track for a while, this is the place to be. The facility comes highly recommended.

For the youngsters and the young at heart, pay a visit to the Scott Family Amazeum. With almost 50,000 square feet of family-oriented exhibits and educational areas, the kids can learn while having some interactive fun. What makes it special is many exhibitors played a part in building Arkansas into the place it is today. Those include 3M, General Mills, and current favorites Hershey's and Nickelodeon. Become a member or just attend one of the many events such as The UnGala, Tinkerfest, and Zing in the New Year.

Pay a visit to nearby Froggy's Moto Tours for the more adventurous types. Owned by champion rider Cory West, he is the fourth generation of motorcyclists in the area. Here is your chance to explore the Ozark Mountains on dirt or paved roads. You can choose one of their adventure or dual sport bikes or bring your own vehicle. They are partnered with some of the top names in the industry like Yamaha and Bridgestone. Take a guided tour and be amazed at some of the sites and wildlife you'll see.
