Garfield, AR

A tiny hamlet of roughly 500 residents, Garfield, Arkansas, is located northeast of Rogers, Arkansas, and is just a short drive away from more attractions than you could shake a stick at. Some of the major tenets this small city is known for are its traditional small-town values, preservation of cultural and historical heritage, and guided growth. It's the sort of friendly town where the pedestrians commonly offer smiles and friendly waves to passing drivers whether they know them or not. First platted in 1883, the local post office has been operating since 1887, just four years later.

No matter what your idea of fun is, you can find it here. If spending time outdoors is your vision of a day well-spent, look no further than Beaver Lake, which Garfield has direct access to. Some of the state's best recreation and fishing areas are in this part of town. Nestled in the Ozark Mountains, the lake has several commercial marinas offering grocery items, boat rentals, fishing instruction, and more. Camping is one of the most popular pastimes that bring people to Beaver Lake, and many campsites dot the shores offering various services such as electricity, water hookups, dump stations for RV's, and more. There's no better way to experience the beauty of the area than a waterside seat to watch the sun come up from or set behind the mountains. A few popular sites are Horseshoe Bend, Prairie Creek, and Hide-A-Way Campgrounds and RV Parks.

Garfield is also a quick 20-minute drive from the enjoyable Eureka Springs. Enjoy a day of learning new information from the many exhibits and showings at the Eureka Springs Historical Museum and Information Center on South Main Street, or maybe belly laugh at the comedic stylings of paranormal entertainer Vince Johari and magician Carlos David. They partner up to put on Johari's Window at the 3 Fox Sisters Theater, a hilarious search for the existence of psychic powers.

If a slightly longer commute to have a good time doesn't scare you away, the extremely popular tourist destination Branson, Missouri, is just a little over an hour's drive away. Bransons' popularity as a tourist attraction stems from the explosion of shows, hotels, and businesses, that have sprouted up there over the last few years and is a place worth visiting for a day trip. Plan on staying longer if you want to attempt many of the entertainment options.

As gorgeous as the scenery is that you can find in and around this Ozark town, people aren't the only ones with an appreciation for it. Where there is greenery, there are sure to be animals.
