Unknown to most, and where locals can spend their day fishing, is the remains of the Monte Ne community. Perhaps one the hottest tourist spots of the early 20th century, it was home to the state’s first indoor swimming pool and one of the first golf courses. People cam from long distances by train and were met at the station by a gondola. In 1964, to create Beaver Lake, the White River was dammed, and the remaining structures of Monte Ne ended up under water. It is believed that when the water level at Beaver Lake is low, the ghosts of Monte Ne come out.
