Bentonville, Arkansas

Bentonville, AR

With an estimated 55,000 residents, Bentonville is the 9th largest city in Arkansas and Benton County's county seat. Originally named after the Osage Nation Native Americans, settlers first moved to the area around 1837, one year after the county was established. Eventually, Osage was renamed Bentonville after Thomas Hart Benton, a senator who strongly supported Arkansas' statehood.

Voted the best place to live in Arkansas by Niche.com, Bentonville is as close to the perfect place to raise a family as a city can get. With A+ rated schools, a diverse population, and a median rent lower than the rest of the country, the list of reasons to move here is impressive.

While it isn't the largest city globally, the corporation that it gave birth to, Wal-Mart, literally is the largest in the world. On May 9th, 1950, Sam Walton opened Walton's 5&10, a variety store in the downtown square, where his vision to bring value to customers would inspire him to open the first Wal-Mart just twenty minutes down the road in Rogers. His competitors originally thought that "Mr. Sam," as he was known, couldn't possibly create a successful business around lower prices and better service, but his idea blew up larger than he could have ever imagined. Now it’s the largest corporation in the world, along with its Supercenters, Discount Stores, and gas stations.

If the great outdoors is more your speed, you wouldn't want to miss the Slaughter Pen Hollow Multi-Use Trail System, which has activities for a range of different fitness levels. Some of the favorite things to do here are bird-watching, hiking, and mountain biking. The views get more beautiful the further in the trail you get. Be aware, though; it is among the more difficult trails you can find. We are not just the mountain bike capital of Arkansas; in 2020, it was the world.
